Athlete of the Day: Cody Cyr

It’s time to celebrate our Athlete of The Day!

Cody Cyr, nominated by his Sports Dad, Gordon Cyr, is our Athlete of the Day.

Tell us about Cody’s achievement:

Cody is probably one of the best STUDENT athlete’s, and lineman I’ve ever had the chance to work with. This year he was asked to play a position on the O-Line he’s never played, which is Center. He accepted it and has excelled.

About 1,000 snaps later he finally has snapping down. We were actually concerned. Last week he had several long driving blocks, and 7 pancake blocks his first ever game of playing Center. That’s really good considering he was only allowed to play half the game, due to his team blowing out their opponent.

Tell us about a character trait Cody has that you just adore:

He’s undersized for being an offensive lineman at only 5′ 11″, 275 lbs, but he blocks everyone from DI to DIII size and skill level. He is relentless and has the heart of a lion. His heart has him playing like he’s well over 6′, and over 300 lbs. Year after year I’ve watched him block the biggest and best lineman in games and at camps. His heart is comparable to none I’ve ever had the privilege to coach.

Tell us one thing you want your athlete to know:

I want him to know how much I believe in him.

Congratulations, Cody!
